Happy Mother’s Day and Remember Memorial Day

Mother’s Day –A mother’s love and understanding is always there.  There is no better day than Mother’s Day to tell your mother how much she is appreciated and loved.  Unfortunately some of us no longer have our mothers but this should not stop us from thinking back on all the happy memories while she was still with us. Let us all remember that it takes a very special person to be a Mom.  Happy Mother’s Day!

Memorial Day –Freedom and Democracy does not come without a price.  Our Veterans past and present paid or are paying the price for all of us.  It’s a small gesture on our part but we all need to say “Thank You” to our Veterans and their families and tell them how grateful we are for giving us the freedom we have today. Let us not forget all the men and women currently serving throughout the world and their families.

  • The response we received for the 2007 Allan Shawn Feinstein Hunger Challenge which ran from March 1st to April 30th was outstanding. We would like to thank everyone that contributed and helped us meet the challenge. In July, a full report of the challenge results will be posted on feinsteinfoundation.org.
  • 50/50 Raffle.  As of May 1st we have 35 more days to go before the big winner is drawn on June 5th, 2007.  Tickets are still available.  Contact us at the pantry or talk to one of our volunteers if you want tickets.

Our latest status:

  1. Marge Conway, Associate Director (seated-R) Maria Connors, Registrar and I participated in the Keyport Pride Day which was held April 14th.  There was a very good turnout and a number of people stopped by to speak to us and hear more about our organization.  Looking forward to doing it again next year.

  2. We are very busy working on the 2007-08 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application.
  3. Our discussion for our new building continues with Habitat for Humanity and the Keyport Board of Education.

This month’s message is brief but let me assure it is not for lack of things going on, it’s because we have a lot on our plate with our new building initiatives.  Every minute is being spent on working on the CDBG Grant, discussions with Habitat for Humanity and Keyport Board of Education and last but not least the 50/50 Raffle.  We need to give these items our outmost attention at this time so that we can get closer to our goal –our new building.

If you have any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to contact us via email or call us.  As always a BIG thank you for your continued support from the KMFP Staff and Volunteers.
